Who We Are
Our story starts way back in 2000 – in Port Loko District.
In 2000, the Work by Faith Development Association (WoFDA) was founded in Port Loko district by a compassionate group of Internally Displaced People. Port Loko district, nestled in the North Western part of Sierra Leone, West Africa, became the birthplace of our heartfelt mission.
From the very beginning, our association has nurtured a fervent dream: to offer an unwavering chance to the underprivileged children and adults, including those facing intellectual and physical challenges. Our primary goal is to unlock their boundless potential, embracing each individual with empathy and dedication.
WoFDA is a deeply compassionate, non-governmental, non-political advocacy organisation dedicated to reversing the unacceptable mistreatment of vulnerable children and adults in Sierra Leone.
Our organisation is strengthened by a team of advocates and professionals with extensive experience gained from both national and international humanitarian endeavours. These dedicated individuals believe in showering love upon the unloved, amplifying the voices of the voiceless, nurturing the skills of the unskilled and unemployed, and fostering greater awareness within vulnerable communities about health, environmental protection, sports, and human rights.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to empower vulnerable communities especially children, women, men, and the elderly by providing life-saving information, skills, and support to break the cycle of poverty, prevent disasters, and protect human rights. We are committed to creating sustainable change through targeted interventions that promote resilience, dignity, and social justice. By partnering with donors, we aim to expand our reach, deliver innovative programs, and foster a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive in safe, equitable, and resilient communities. Your support will enable us to save lives, transform communities, and champion human rights for those most in need.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to create a just and equitable society where vulnerable children, women, and men are empowered with the skills, resources, and opportunities they need to become self-reliant, independent, and sustainable. We envision a future where socio-economic inequalities are eliminated, and every individual has the chance to thrive and contribute to their community’s growth. By fostering resilience, education, and economic empowerment, we aim to build a brighter, more inclusive world where no one is left behind. Join us in transforming lives and creating lasting change for generations to come.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to transform lives by empowering children and adults through impartial, sustainable skills development and compassionate support. As a dedicated Community based organization, we are committed to mobilizing resources, offering protection, and fostering resilience among vulnerable communities. Guided by our core value of Peace and Conflict Resolution, we implement proactive prevention strategies to address root causes of instability. Our skills training initiatives not only provide immediate economic opportunities but also promote social cohesion and lasting peace. By investing in education, empowerment, and conflict prevention, we create a brighter, more stable future for those in need. Join us in making a meaningful impact together; we can build resilient communities rooted in peace and opportunity.
